Delete Your Account

Last updated: August 16, 2026

This page explains how to delete your TheMoneyMitra account and what happens to your data when you do — for both people using the app and anyone reviewing this without it installed.

Step 1 — Deactivate from inside the app

  1. Open TheMoneyMitra and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings → Privacy & Security.
  3. Tap Delete Account, then confirm.

This immediately signs you out, clears the app's local data on that device, and deactivates your account on our servers — you won't be able to sign back in and see your data unless you explicitly do so (see below).

What "Delete Account" does today: it deactivates your account — it does not erase your stored data. Signing back in with the same phone number, Google account, or Apple ID automatically reactivates it and restores access to everything that was there before. If you want your data permanently erased instead of just deactivated, see Step 2.

Step 2 — Request permanent data erasure

Email hello@themoneymitra.com from the address or phone number associated with your account and ask us to permanently delete your account and data. We process these manually and will confirm with you once it's done. If you no longer have app access at all (uninstalled, lost sign-in method), this email request is also how to proceed — you don't need the app installed to ask for deletion.

What gets deleted, and what's retained

Data type On in-app "Delete Account" On email erasure request
Phone number / email / Google & Apple identifiers Retained (deactivated) Permanently deleted
Transactions, categories, savings goals Retained (deactivated) Permanently deleted
Gmail access token (if connected) Retained, but inert while deactivated Revoked and deleted
Local data on your device Cleared immediately Cleared immediately
Subscription/purchase records Retained Retained as required by Apple/Google/RevenueCat and applicable financial recordkeeping obligations, then deleted where we control retention

We don't have a fixed automatic-deletion timer for deactivated accounts today — data stays deactivated-but-retained until you either sign back in (reactivates it) or email us to request erasure (permanently deletes it). If you only want some of your data removed rather than the whole account — for example a specific transaction or savings goal — you can already do that yourself in the app without deleting your account at all: open the item and choose delete/remove.
